On February 27, 2026, the Romanian Government adopted GEO 9/2026 — a normative act that appears technical at first glance, but marks a structural shift in the country's energy policy. For the first time in the history of national legislation, biomethane receives its own legal framework: clear definitions, specific rights and obligations for producers, and — most importantly — explicit access to the national natural gas transmission and distribution infrastructure.
