Conferences PACT FOR WORK, organized by the National Confederation for Women Entrepreneurship - CONAF, Federation of Oil and Gas Employers - FPPG, in strategic partnership with CONCORDIA, While last year's debates took place in Bucharest, Iași and Cluj-Napoca, this year the events will take place in three other major cities that are also major university centers: Timisoara, Brasov and Constanta.

Moreover, these cities are also the capitals of the counties with the highest contribution to Romania's gross domestic product (GDP). According to 2018 statistics, Timis County contributed almost 46 billion lei to Romania's GDP, Cluj - 45 billion lei, Constanta - 42 billion lei, Brasov - 32 billion lei, Iasi - 30 billion lei, and Bucharest (together with Ilfov County) - about 23% of Romania's GDP.

Adapting to the current workforce situation at national level and identifying viable solutions with immediate applicability are the top priorities of the debates PACT FOR WORK. As in Bucharest, Cluj Napoca and Iași, the debates in Timisoara, Brasov and Constanta, which will take place in the coming period, will be attended by representatives of central and local authorities, renowned specialists in the field, entrepreneurs and managers of national and multinational companies.

COVID-19 crisis, The state of emergency and state of alert, the imposition of social distancing, quarantine and isolation measures have affected and continue to affect a significant number of companies and employees in Romania, but also worldwide. This has had devastating effects on both developed and emerging economies. The relocation of work at home, the reduction in the number of hours worked and the loss of jobs are having the same impact on the global labor market as they are on the Romanian one.

The same restrictions have led us to organize the events, for the first time, in the form of (online) TV broadcasts. Until the situation in the country returns to normal, the debates will be broadcast live on online platforms (Youtube) and social networks (Facebook). Only speakers and media representatives will be present in the conference rooms (in a specially designated area, respecting the conditions imposed by the legislation in force), while participants will be able to interact with the speakers via online platforms.

PACT FOR WORK is the proof of entrepreneurial unity of two large employers' entities, the National Confederation for Women Entrepreneurship and the Oil and Gas Employers' Federation, which join their efforts in support of national economic projects.

“The global outbreak of coronavirus has changed our habits and, most likely, the normality before the pandemic will be different from the normality after the pandemic. But this outbreak has also had beneficial effects: it has shown us all how important digitization and the 4.0 industrial revolution are. Many people fear this new digital age of industrial technology! They fear that robots will take employees“ jobs! In all likelihood, some jobs will indeed disappear, but more and better paid jobs will inevitably appear! But this will require much closer cooperation between companies and schools, between companies and the authorities! It is not by chance that we have chosen to hold the debates of the PACT FOR WORK in strong university centers! Of course, not only university graduates will have more and better paid jobs! A lathe operator will earn more if he ”works” on more machines! In fact, if he supervises several CNC machine tools and only intervenes when and if necessary! In the same way, an electrician, just by using the tablet, will know exactly where to intervene! Drilling rig and oil and gas well operators are among the most advanced in this field! PACTUL PENTRU MUNCĂ wants to find solutions to bring the education system in line with the needs of the labor market, solutions to increase the quality of life so as to stop the migration of the labor force, and even more so that Romanians return home, but also to increase the birth rate, solutions for a predictable legislation that is favorable to new investments and, consequently, to create new jobs, and finally, solutions for a stable and developed economy and a high standard of living! Now that the health crisis is turning into an economic crisis, such a PACT is all the more necessary! Governors have come up with proposals for economic recovery. They will also participate in our debates and we will look for the best solutions. Of course, what we are proposing is not easy, but TOGETHER TOGETHER WE ARE REBUILDING ROMANIA!", said Cristina Chiriac, President of CONAF.

”The pandemic has forced us to rethink our plans, to prepare for a future that we imagined slightly different and has accelerated a number of pre-existing trends, such as digitalization, automation or process flexibilization. These are in addition to the general challenges of the Romanian labor market, challenges related to the lack of qualified personnel and, within the industry that I represent, to the aging workforce. All these issues need to be reflected in the labor market and we believe that the Employment Pact is a starting point. The PACT FOR WORK will have to be an integrator of policies, from education and health, to climate change, taxation and investment, so that, in the end, TOGETHER WE TO REBUILD ROMANIA!”, said Frank Neel, President of the FPPG.

At the end of two years of debates, organized in Bucharest, Iași, Cluj-Napoca, Timișoara, Brașov and Constanța, the conclusions and solutions identified during the discussions will be concretized in a Memorandum of Understanding - agreed by the participants at the conferences. The document will be submitted to the Romanian Government and will include the main solutions identified by the entrepreneurial environment for a flexible, efficient and competitive labor market, with beneficial effects on the entire economy, but also on the Romanian people's standard of living.

Companies and small entrepreneurs can participate online at the conference organized in Timisoara, Vienna Hall, on June 9, 2020, starting at 10:00.

On the agenda of the event are representatives of government, central and local authorities, renowned specialists in the field, entrepreneurs and managers of national and multinational companies. It will be published on www.conaf.ro.
