Soon, we are kicking off a new project branded Federația Patronală a Energiei. It is a project dedicated to people in the sector. Why people? Because beyond the plants, the equipment, the wells, the capital, the policies that govern us, there are people. The people who make energy exist and who dedicate their talent and hard work, day in and day out, to making Romania work well. These people are producing energy at home, contributing to our political stability and to an economy that we all want to flourish, for the good of each and every one of us.

ENERGY PEOPLE CAN BE FOUND ALL OVER THE COUNTRY

The energy sector supports many jobs for people in all corners of Romania. Although some areas have higher yields due to the abundance of natural resources, the energy industry is present almost everywhere. This is because the energy sector encompasses not only producers but also transporters and distributors of electricity, natural gas and fuels for various types of transportation.

In addition to conventional technologies, which are mainly based on hydrocarbons, the energy sector also encompasses technologies using renewable resources: onshore and soon offshore wind, hydropower, geothermal, biofuels, nuclear. That's why people in our field can be found everywhere: drilling, maintaining pipelines, monitoring control panels, installing and repairing wind turbines, researching, innovating or liaising with companies or end consumers, in gas stations, at the pump, face to face with direct beneficiaries.

COMMUNITY IMPACT OF THOSE WORKING IN THE ENERGY SECTOR

In economics, there is the concept of „multiplier effect”, which refers to the fact that one expenditure (or a series of expenditures) creates a chain reaction, creating more expenditure, with a positive impact on the economy.

For example, a well-functioning business means well-paid employees who are confident to buy or invest in their community. At the level of a city, for example, it means that shops will spring up which in turn pay their employees. Or there will be more entertainment centers offering recreational activities for local employees.

Well-paid local labor also means more money will be spent on buying or renovating homes. In a nutshell, energy companies, through the consumption generated by their employees, contribute to the local economy.

Of course, this is not the only effect companies have on communities. At the same time, companies pay taxes that are reflected in local investment, can support area development projects, get involved in building schools, hospitals, etc.

And, since we have been talking about the multiplier effect of the general consumption of employees, let us recall that investments in the energy sector also have an important multiplier factor. For example, an investment of EUR 1 million in the oil and gas sector adds EUR 5.8 billion to Romania's GDP (over a period of 10 years). Such an investment could also support and create around 43,500 jobs, of which more than 27,000 directly and indirectly in the value chain. These data were drawn from a study conducted by Federația Patronală a Energiei and Deloitte.

THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE ENERGY SECTOR AND THE COUNTRY'S ECONOMY IS PEOPLE

In almost every field you work in, your work is linked in one way or another to energy consumption. The work of energy employees has a greater impact on a few areas on which we all depend:

  • Health - Uninterrupted power supply to hospitals is vital. Energy is also used for the production and operation of medical equipment and the production of medicines.
  • Agriculture - uses energy for vehicles, machinery, various installations;
  • Food sector - energy is vital for processing and preserving food;
  • Transport - uses oil products and electricity at an increasing rate;
  • EN - computers, servers, even phones all depend on a continuous supply of energy;

Soon, you will have the opportunity to find out more about the people working in Romania, for Romania's energy. And discover the energy sector with those who know it best.
