Constanta, 7 April 2025 - BSOG Energy, an energy company owned by Black Sea Oil & Gas specialized in the development of biomethane projects in Romania and Unigrains Trading, a company that manages approx. 3,300 hectares of cereal agricultural land in Constanta County and one of the leading seed producers in southern Romania, announce the signing of a cooperation agreement for a combined biomethane and organic fertilizer production facility. The project will produce 57 MW of biomethane and over 250,000 tons of organic fertilizers per year.

Under the cooperation agreement, Unigrains will supply the raw material of unprocessed waste to the production facility and will own and manage the rights to the resulting fertilizers on the wholesale and retail markets.

BSOG Energy will be responsible for building, owning and operating the project and will manage the biomethane production.

The total investment is estimated to exceed €65 million, while the project will take about 2 years to complete.

Mark Beacom, Managing Director, BSOG Energy:

„This exciting project represents BSOG Energy's second biomethane production project in Romania. The cooperation with Unigrains will bring an additional 57 MW of biomethane production to BSOG Energy. Considering the removal of organic waste from the environment and at the same time the production of green gas as a substitute for natural gas and organic fertilizers as a substitute for chemical fertilizers, we believe in the potential of this project to significantly contribute to Romania's energy sustainability.

The realization of this project requires a supportive regulatory framework and we look forward to working together with the relevant authorities towards the common goal of realizing large-scale biomethane developments in the country.

Black Sea Oil & Gas” shareholders, global investment firm Carlyle and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development fully support this new partnership."

Theodor Ichim, Administrator of Unigrains Trading and President of the Forum of Professional Farmers and Processors in Romania (FAPPR):

“As early as 2018, recognizing the constraints of European regulations and climate challenges, we adopted a hybrid-chemical and organic farming system for fertilization and treatments on our farm, with which we have achieved extraordinary results. We have transformed our soils into living organisms, allowing agricultural production to work in symbiosis with nature.

The BSOG Energy proposal marks the pinnacle of our agricultural strategy. In partnership with BSOG Energy, we look forward to providing a sustainable alternative, integrating our products with traditional technology to produce organic fertilizers high quality and ultimately clean food.

Unigrains is also committed to raising awareness among Romanian farmers about this innovative initiative through the professional association FAPPR.

Experts in Romania and abroad develop advanced organic formulations derived from the digestion of organic waste, ensuring that they contain essential nutrients for plant growth. In addition, we aim to enhance our products with organic crops.

The partnership with BSOG Energy, the biomethane pioneer in Romania, is a solid basis for the success of our joint project. I see this project as a true sanitation of Romania's agriculture, in terms of efficient disposal of agricultural waste, while acting as a driving force for the growth of the circular economy.”
