The Oil and Gas Employers' Federation is pleased to welcome the company to its membership Black Sea Oil & Gas (BSOG), one of the leading companies in the offshore sector. The FPPG thus continues its consolidation, also in 2022, thus completing the whole picture of the Romanian upstream sector both onshore and offshore. Natural Gas from the Black Sea is closer to utilization also thanks to BSOG, whose recent membership honors all members of the federation.

Through sustained efforts, the FPPG is now bringing together the main natural gas producers, which have the capacity to fully cover the domestic production needed to make Romania energy independent for the next decade. As of this year, by bringing together the main holders of Black Sea agreements, the Federation's members could meet energy consumption needs until 2030 only through offshore projects, which are blocked by the long-awaited change in the law designed to facilitate them. Thus, in demonstrating its representativeness for the energy sector, the FPPG reiterates its objective to facilitate the dialog for the unblocking of offshore projects and for the most efficient and realistic measures in the energy transition.

”The Oil and Gas Employers' Federation now covers gas production in both the Romanian onshore and offshore sectors, contributing with particular responsibility to the transition to the future of energy in this region. Further strengthened by our growing membership, the united voice of the FPPG is essential for oil and gas production, which the current crisis demonstrates is needed more than ever.

We face various challenges in addition to that of starting up offshore projects. Among them worth mentioning are the energy transition, the role of gas in Romania's energy mix and the new regulations aimed at the free market, but challenges are part of the oilman's DNA and, together with BSOG, still one of the most respected companies on the Romanian oil and gas market and promoting the same climate of cooperation, the federation will strongly support measures for economic recovery and energy independence, closely linked to encouraging domestic production of natural resources.”, says Franck Neel - president of the FPPG.

In the context of the effects of the overlapping international crises that have begun to escalate in the last two years, the Federation once again draws attention to the fact that Romania still has an opportunity that few countries in Europe have - natural resources. The development of the sector that it represents can only be achieved through legislation that stimulates investment in the exploration and production of resources, by diversifying the natural gas market, increasing the competitiveness and efficiency of the energy sector, while taking care to offer the best conditions for end consumers. The action plan undertaken by the federation, through the support and active involvement of its members, aims to better align public policies with the need to develop the oil and gas sector both onshore and offshore.

The BSOG is very pleased to join the FFPG. FFPG has grown to become the definitive voice of both the onshore and offshore gas industry and we are honored to have a supportive role in ensuring that the Federation can achieve its goals. These goals include ensuring that Romania realizes its huge economic and political potential to become not only self-sufficient in energy, but also to be a dominant force in Europe with its offshore gas resources. Such goals can only be achieved through a proper understanding between investors and all stakeholders in Romania. We believe in FFPG's effort to realize the objective for the benefit of Romania.” conchide Mark Beacom, CEO BSOG.
