Federația Patronală a Energiei (FPE) is marking the Day of the Petroleum Professional with a message of gratitude addressed to all the professionals who, for almost 170 years, have been giving energy to Romania and building one of the most important strategic industries of the country.
Established in 1990, at the initiative of the Federation of Free and Independent Petrom Trade Unions, the Day of the Oilman is celebrated annually on September 8, under the symbolic patronage of Saint Mary, patroness of those who work in this field. It is a day of identity value for professionals in drilling, extraction, processing and research, but also a moment of reflection on an industrial heritage of global significance.
Romania has an oil history of almost 170 years, (let's decide how to spell it, over 150 or almost 170) marked by world firsts and remarkable contributions. From illuminating Bucharest with oil, to the establishment of the world's first refinery, to record drilling depths and early gasoline exports, the Romanian oil industry has been built on innovation, rigor and courage. This industrial heritage is not just a chapter of history, but the foundation on which today's innovations and tomorrow's transformations are built.
Today, in a context where sustainability is becoming a fundamental criterion for public policy, the role of oil and gas specialists remains essential. Their ability to adapt to new technological requirements, global market dynamics and climate objectives is proof of an industry capable of transformation without losing its identity.
”The Day of the Oilman is the best opportunity to highlight the effort and work put in by oilmen to build a strong industry, a solid foundation for technological innovations that will place Romania at the forefront of the European energy sector transformation.
The history of the Romanian oilman is dotted with world firsts, a multitude of achievements, inventions and discoveries of talented engineers and inventors and thousands of dedicated people who work so energetically day after day. For this we thank them all and celebrate together the Day of the Petrolist.
The future of the Romanian oil industry is focused on the development of cutting-edge technologies, with tailor-made challenges, in which the industry must benefit from the modernization of the regulatory framework so that it favors the development of the domestic sector and encourages new investment projects in energy production.
Romania has the potential to become a strategic regional player, a provider of energy security, and for this, the Romanian oil company needs the unconditional support of the Romanian state.
