The Federation of Oil and Gas Employers (FPPG) has closely followed the recent political statements regarding the business environment in Romania and disapproves of the way in which companies in the energy, banking, telecommunications and retail sectors are being vilified. The insinuations of unfounded price increases and tax evasion are extremely serious, as they contradict reality and generalize.

Such statements risk generating a state of public hostility against companies, including companies in the energy sector, a sector with a strategic role in guaranteeing energy security, but also Romania's national security.

The industry that we represent is among the main employers, among the main contributors to the budget and among the main investors in the national economy, having a determining role in the geostrategic positioning of our country.

I was mentioning that, in recent years, we have witnessed a sharp deterioration in the business environment for energy companies, through increased taxation and repeated changes in the legislation in this area.

This context is likely to jeopardize investment, with negative effects on energy production, state budget contributions and jobs.

The Oil and Gas Employers' Federation reaffirms its availability and openness for collaboration, balance and dialog, so that possible negative effects for Romania can be avoided.
