In the context of the disputed GEO 114, company representatives argue that Romania risks missing the opportunity to become a natural gas hub in the South-East European region. In addition, predictability is what can substantially contribute to our country's energy independence.
Franck Neel, Member of the Executive Board, responsible for the Downstream Gas division, OMV Petrom and President of FPPG, believes that natural gas plays a key role in solving today's challenges - growing energy demand and climate change. It is therefore worth continuing the flow of new discoveries as this represents opportunities not just for companies but for the economy as a whole. For the opportunities to materialize, it is important to have the right regulatory framework, fiscal stability, a level playing field, key infrastructures and liberalized markets. The second edition of the RIGC - Romanian International Gas Conference - brought together Romanian and EU officials and experts in Bucharest on Wednesday, March 13 to discuss the main challenges and development opportunities specific to the gas sector in Romania and the region.
