The local natural gas industry community gathered on Wednesday, December 15, at the Gaz de România 2021 Gala, an event that stood under the „Phoenix”, an idea that emphasizes the capacity for reinvention, rebirth, willpower and success. The event, organized by Oil and Gas Employers Federation (FPPG), celebrated projects and personalities who in the last two years have shown resilience, reinvention and the ambition to succeed despite all the challenges they have faced.
Gaz de România Gala 2021 brought into the spotlight professionals who are willing to share benchmarks of success, to be friends and mentors as much as they are leaders and inspire. Representatives from academia, institutions and the private sector joined the event.
Here are the 10 award categories and their winners:
- Phoenix Award for initiative and commitment to Romania - awarded by Adrian Măniuțiu, Managing Partner EM360 Group, to Ion Sterian, General Director of Transgaz, for the BRUA project
- Two Phoenix awards for team spirit and sacrifice - awarded by Nadina Câmpeanu, TV presenter, to Dr. Adrian Marinescu (Matei Balș Institute) and Medlife, represented by Mrs. Oana Surdu, Member of the Executive Committee, Director of Clinics, Medlife Group
- Phoenix Award for altruism and empathy - granted by Dumitru Chisăliță, President of the Intelligent Energy Association, to Dan Jecan, President of CERT Transylvania, and Șerban Grecu, member of CERT Transylvania
- Phoenix award for courage - by the Director of the Defense General Staff, Major General Corneliu Postu, to Invictus Romania, represented by Colonel Patrick Luca and Major Gabi Ion
- Phoenix Award for Romania tomorrow - awarded by State Secretary George Niculescu, Ministry of Energy, to Aristotel Jude, Romgaz Director
- Phoenix Award for vision and responsibility - awarded by Oana Ozmen, Member of Parliament, Secretary of the Committee on Industry and Services, to Radu Dudău, Director Energy Policy Group and coordinator of Romania Eficient
- Phoenix Award for perseverance and continuity - awarded by Mr. Cătălin Niță, Executive Director FPPG, to Dr. Raed Arafat & DSU
- Three Phoenix awards for consistency and balance - awarded by Sandor Bende, Member of the Chamber of Deputies of Romania, Chairman of the Committee on Industry and Services, to Prof. univ. Prof. Alina Bârgăoanu, Prof. Dr. Iulian Fota and Radu Tudor, journalist
- Phoenix Award for passion and belief in the future - awarded by Prof. Vasile Dîncu, Minister of National Defense, to Prof. Mihnea Costoiu, Rector of Politehnica University of Bucharest
- Phoenix Award for innovation and expertise - awarded by Zoltan Nagy-Bege, Vice President of ANRE, to Cosmin Enache, pro-rector of the West University of Timișoara (representative Mr. Marilen Pirtea, rector)
Energaz News winners, high school students from Bucharest
The Gala also honored the winners of the competition ENERGAZ 2021, organized by the FPPG through the platform Gaz de România. Energaz News, this year's edition, was a contest to create, record and present a newsletter (a video of max. 3 min) about climate change and the importance of natural gas for a cleaner future, organized for high school students in Bucharest. Its aim is to invite high school students to raise awareness of environmental challenges and contribute to a sustainable future by finding new information and solutions.
