The FPPG draws the public's attention to the fact that, under the current market conditions and without distortions of a political-administrative nature, the price increases announced by some distributors for the supply of natural gas have no real economic basis. At the moment, developments on the international market as well as on domestic trading platforms indicate a downward trend in gas prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Favourable weather and optimism about the expected market liberalization have clearly led to an improvement in prices in all markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FPPG External Relations Director, Daniel Apostol says: \u201dRomania has abundant reserves of natural gas in storage, as well as natural resources in exploitation, and an increasing interconnection with various markets to ensure a healthy supply-demand balance. Given these elements, there is no real reason for significant inflation with market liberalization. We call on public authorities for legislative stability and predictability to remove the factors that can distort the market.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

According to the data provided by BRM - member FPPG - the weighted average price of natural gas in January 2020 traded in the medium and long term was 78.71 lei\/MWh, and on the SPOT platform (short term) was 70.81 lei\/MWh. In the period from 01.02.2020 to 10.02.2020 on the SPOT platform the weighted average price was 65.27 lei\/MWh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
