{"id":7680,"date":"2020-08-04T09:46:00","date_gmt":"2020-08-04T06:46:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fpe.ro\/?p=7680"},"modified":"2024-11-20T11:19:35","modified_gmt":"2024-11-20T09:19:35","slug":"comunicat-de-presa-4-august-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fpe.ro\/en\/comunicat-de-presa-4-august-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"PRESS RELEASE - August 4, 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>In the context of the latest information appearing in the public space, the Federation of Oil and Gas Employers (FPPG) appreciates the need to reiterate the major importance of strategic energy projects, especially BRUA - Bulgaria-Romania-Hungary-Austria Interconnector.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite the severe impact felt by the energy sector as a result of the current crisis in the health sector, members of the federation recognize the upward trend in the European Union's dependence on natural gas imports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Against the backdrop of steadily rising demand combined with falling domestic production, ensuring security of gas supply is a necessity. The BRUA pipeline is therefore an essential step in the development of the national gas transportation system (NTS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This project aims to increase Romania's security of gas supply through access to new sources, as well as the transit of Caspian Basin natural gas production to Central European markets. In addition, BRUA is also a route to European markets for part of Romania's potential production from the Black Sea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As we have argued in the past, according to the studies and analyses carried out by the FPPG with the support of experts in the field, Romania's interconnection to the regional transmission networks is an essential step in the development of the Romanian natural gas market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The advantages are multiple and concern energy security as well as commercial, economic, political and social benefits. These include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The connection to regional natural gas transportation corridors allows new supplies from new sources. As a result, domestic and industrial consumers in Romania will benefit from the effects of competition between multiple sources of natural gas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The development of a transparent and liquid domestic trading market, supported also by the bi-directional link with the Central European Gas Hub in Baumgarten (CEGH), to be established through the BRUA pipeline, will provide consumers with predictability and security of supply.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Interconnection can give Romania an important position in regional markets and will therefore increase energy security.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Underground natural gas storage, with significant geological potential for expansion, can be developed and modernized on a commercial basis in a regional market context.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The access of Romanian gas producers to regional and European markets will stimulate upstream and infrastructure investment.
