Today, with support from the FPPG, the independent study was launched\u00a0Prospects for natural gas in Romania and ways to get more out of it<\/strong>, by Vasile Iuga and Radu Dud\u0103u.<\/p>\n

The paper explores the potential of using natural gas in the long term to facilitate Romania's transition to a low-emission economy, while generating added value throughout the value chain, from producers to end consumers. Beyond a snapshot of the current situation, the study focuses on the strategic steps that Romania needs to take in the coming period, proposing a roadmap of measures to stimulate consumption and strengthen its geopolitical and economic position in the region.<\/p>\n

\n\u201eIt is worth noting the considerable potential of natural gas that Romania has in the region and we point out that gas is the most important fuel in the Romanian economy - 31% of the primary energy balance, and currently domestic production almost entirely covers consumption. With our analysis, we also wanted to attest that the desirable development of the gas sector depends to a considerable extent on the quality of energy sector regulation\u201d<\/em>, says study co-author Vasile Iuga.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\n\u201eThe decisive factors for the formation of a liquid, transparent and deep market require a modern institutional and regulatory framework that is conducive to investment in key gas infrastructure: transmission networks, interconnectors, storage, liquefaction and regasification capacities\u201d<\/em>, says Professor Radu Dud\u0103u.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The conclusions and recommendations of the study were presented by the authors at a workshop, followed by a debate, attended by representatives of the Parliament, the Government, the Mineral Resources Regulatory Agency, academia, members of the industry and the media.<\/p>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\t\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div> \n\n\t
