The present study aims to contribute with data and arguments to the ongoing debate in the political, media and Romanian society on the potential of natural gas from the Romanian offshore perimeters in the deep waters of the Black Sea.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Discussions focus mainly on profit-sharing between the state and investors, but neglect a realistic and comprehensive assessment of the risks facing deep offshore oil projects that ultimately determine investment decisions.<\/p>\n

Firm conviction of the authors, Vasile Iuga and Radu Dud\u0103u<\/strong>is that the development of the offshore gas sector is a historic opportunity for our country, with great economic, political and energy security benefits.<\/p>\n

National gas production is facing a sharp decline in the rate of replacement of reserves, which means that without new fields coming on stream, dependence on imports will deepen year by year and security of supply will become increasingly difficult to ensure.<\/p>\n

\n

In these circumstances, the adoption of a fair and stable regulatory framework for offshore operations, allowing development and production to start, is imperative for the national economy.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The future of an economic sector of fundamental importance for Romania depends on the political decision taken in the coming weeks and months.<\/p>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\t\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div> \n\n\t
