On the occasion of Oil Worker's Day, Federația Patronală a Energiei (FPE) extends its appreciation to all professionals who, through their hard work, expertise, and dedication, have contributed and continue to contribute to the development of Romania’s oil and gas industry.

Oil has a history of nearly 170 years in Romania. Throughout generations, the industry has been built through expertise, innovation, and the experience of people who have contributed to the development of the energy sector and the Romanian economy. From engineers, geologists, and researchers to operators, technicians, and other specialists, their skills represent one of the industry's important resources.

Today, the oil and natural gas sector is going through a period of transformation. New technologies, energy efficiency projects, decarbonization requirements, and changes in the energy system bring new challenges. In this context, the experience accumulated by industry professionals remains essential for the future development of the sector.

Daniel Apostol, General Manager of the Energy Employers' Federation, stated on this occasion:

„Dear partners, dear colleagues and energy sector professionals,

September 8th, Oil Worker's Day, represents a moment of profound gratitude toward the generations of specialists who have built and maintained Romania on the global energy map. Our heritage is a remarkable one: an industry of tradition, characterized by technical excellence, rigor, and a fundamental contribution to the country's economic and social development.

Today, the oil and gas industry is undergoing a period of profound transformation. Tradition is dynamically blending with innovation: member companies of the Energy Employers’ Federation (FPE) are making major investments in modern technologies, energy efficiency projects, and solutions designed to align with European decarbonization targets. Our sector is reaffirming its strategic role, actively transforming itself to meet the challenges of the future and to support the energy transition in a sustainable and equitable manner.

In a complex regional context, the domestic energy industry is not only a pillar of the national economy, but also an essential provider of regional security and security of supply. The contribution of the energy sector to the GDP and the state budget remains vital for Romania's financial stability and for the financing of major development projects.

To be able to fulfill this strategic role and to accelerate major investment projects, the energy sector needs a real dialogue, greater understanding, and firm support from the Romanian state. It is crucial that the authorities prioritize:

  • Simplification and clarification of the legislative framework to eliminate bureaucracy and operational bottlenecks;
  • Ensuring a predictable and investment-friendly regulatory and fiscal environment, capable of attracting and retaining capital in the country;
  • An authentic public-private partnership focused on energy security, competitiveness, and sustainability.

The energy transition and national security cannot be achieved without a strong and viable industry. Happy anniversary to all those who, through work, professionalism and dedication, keep Romania's energy moving!”
